Porsche to offer diesel Cayenne in USA

PorscheCayenneSilver For the first time in its history, the Porsche Cayenne diesel (pictured) is heading to the United States market.

Starting from the 2013 model year, the Cayenne Diesel will be made available with a 3.0litre, V6 turbo diesel engine – it offers 240hp and 406lb-ft of torque from as low as 1,750rpm. It can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 7.2seconds and has a top speed of 135mph.

The vehicle manages some remarkable fuel economy figures given its performance levels too – achieving 23mpg combined. It meets US Tier 2 BIN5 emissions standards and includes an SCR system with an AdBlue tank that is located in the car’s spare wheel well.

Other highlights of the engine include high pressure common rail fuel injection and a variable vane geometry turbocharger.

In addition, the engine is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic S transmission although it does not include the start/stop function that is available with other Cayenne variants.
